In what was already a terrific match-up for the fans with Carl Frampton facing four-weight world champion Nonito Donaire on April 21st, the undercard announced is set to make this the best card seen on these shores in a long time.
The details announced at the press conference are as follows –
- Jono Carroll (15-0, 2KOs) will take on Belfast’s Marco McCullough (18-4, 11KOs) in a 12-round super-featherweight showdown for the IBF European strap.
Carroll and McCullough claimed third-round stoppage victories on the ‘Frampton Reborn’ undercard last November. With their exciting, all-action styles, this could turn out to be the fight of the night.
- Tyrone McKenna (15-0-1, 6KOs) and light-welterweight rival Phil Sutcliffe Jr (14-2, 9KOs) meet in a cracking domestic match, pitting the top 2 in the division against each other.
McKenna and Sutcliffe have been rumoured to fight for a while now with the pair continually linked since fighting as amateurs in 2012.
- WBO European champion Conrad Cummings (12-1-1) and Irish champion ‘Cool Hand‘ Luke Keeler (13-2, 5KO) go toe-to-toe in the middleweight division.
These hard-hitting middleweights finally meet in what could surely be an early finish.
Frank Warren and MTK have really come together on this one and brought fight fans an unbelievable card, with any of the above fights good enough to headline in their own right. With more undercard announcements over the coming weeks, this looks set be a historic night for Irish boxing fans.
