Middleweight contender Danny Jacobs will be back in action on April 28th in the Barclays centre, Brooklyn, New York. It was initially thought that Spike O’Sullivan would be his opponent following his dramatic ko win over Antoine Douglas recently.
However, that plan has seemed to change according to Jacobs promoter Eddie Hearn. Hearn says that they looking at hard-hitting Limerick native Andy Lee as a possible opponent for what would surely be a middleweight title eliminator –
“I hoped [Jacobs-O’Sullivan] would happen, but it doesn’t look like Spike’s side wants it,” Hearn stated after the press conference for the Anthony Joshua-Joseph Parker heavyweight title unification fight on March 31st.
“Not Spike himself, by the way. Sorry Spike, because I know you’d fight anyone. But it’s politics, basically, which is a shame because it’s a big payday, big fight. Possibly, Andy Lee might get the opportunity as well against Danny Jacobs.”
