ko-boxing

  • Deontay Wilder vs Luis Ortiz has finally been confirmed for March 3rd in the Barclays centre, New York. Wilder will defend his WBC heavyweight strap against the Cuban after initial talks that the belt would not be on the line following Ortiz’s failed drugs test.
  • On a busy month for boxing, Oscar Valdez vs Scott Quigg has been finalised for March 10th for the StubHub centre, California. In a real fan-friendly fight, these two hard-hitting featherweights have 44 ko’s between them and will do battle with Valdez’s WBO strap on the line.
  • Kildare light-middleweight Dennis Hogan will face Manchester’s Jimmy Kelly in a final eliminator for the WBO belt. The bout will take place on April 7th in Brisbane convention centre. The winner will likely face the winner of Sadam Ai vs Liam Smith towards the end of 2018.
  • Callum Smith will have to travel to Nuremburg, Germany for his super series semi-final against Juergen Breahmer on February 24th. After initially calling for a neutral venue for the super-middleweight clash, Smith will face Braehmer on home soil but it’s something he’s not fazed by –

“I believe I will beat Jurgen Braehmer anywhere in the world and it is a nice away trip for my fans. I am the better man, the younger, fresher man, and I believe I will do what needs to be done to get to the final.”
