Home town favourite Jame Conlan 19-0 (11 ko’s) finally get his chance at a world title when he faces Filpino Jerwin Ancajas (27-1-1, 18 KOs), who won the belt in September 2016 when he defeated Mcjoe Arroyo and has made two defences since becoming Champion.
Conlan will be up against it against Ancajas who looks to be getting better with each fight at world level. But the local hero has shown he has the grit and determination needed to become world champion and will be a handful for anyone in the division.
Conlan needs to use his height and reach advantage and keep Ancajas at bay and hope to pile on the pressure in the later rounds. Conlan may have to come through some rough patches and may even hit the canvas at some stage. However, If Conlan can stick to his game plan and not get dragged into a war against the hard-hitting Filipino then he just might have enough to get the nod in front of his passionate home crowd…
Prediction – Conlan wins on points / split decision
