KO – So this is your first time fighting abroad?

JB – That’s right, im really looking forward to it. It’s a big opportunity for me to showcase my skills to a new audience. I’ve heard great things about the National stadium as a boxing venue so I cant wait to get in there. Also, my wife is from Derry so were bringing a lot of fans down for it.

KO – Your 32 now, but you only turned pro at 31. What made you finally decide to go pro?

JB – I love fighting and I’ve been involved in boxing for years now. Previously I was in unlicensed boxing and a lot of white-collar events where I’ve built up quite a following over the years.

I just think it was finally the right time, so I decided to take the opportunity and start taking it seriously and dedicate myself to the sport.

KO – And has there been a big difference in your training since you turned pro?

JB – Obviously im working on my skills a lot more. Now im training twice a day with a long run on a Saturday so im always in great shape and ready to go.

KO – So for any Irish fans not familiar with you, what can they expect on October 7th?

JB – Yeah, you know people just love to watch me fight. Im a good endurance fighter who loves a tear-up and a scrap so the fans are in for a treat on October 7th. My trainer hates it at times but I love to please the fans. Im in this sport to enjoy it also, so im happy to go to war.

KO – And looking ahead, whats your plan then for the next year?

JB – Im going to start moving up the rounds and im targeting a southern area title fight. I’ve no problem making the weight and im feeling really strong. I pride myself on my fitness so the longer fights and rounds will suit me better. As I step up in class, you’re going to see the best from me.

Id also just like to thank my sponsors – Riada Resourcing , Bloc Blinds, Prime Demolition and ESA Boxing!
