Boxing this weekend – previews & predictions…

For any boxing fans that are already tired of the Mayweather/McGregor circus. Dont worry, there’s some actual fights on this weekend.

So, here’s a look ahead to a packed card in London –

Saturday July 15th – London

Chris Eubank Jnr Vs Arthur Abraham – IBO Super-Middleweight Title

Eubank jnr moves up to super-middle to challenge the veteran Abraham. As well as the IBO title, the winner will be guaranteed a place in the upcoming World Boxing series.

Abraham has shown in his last few fights that he’s plenty left in the tank and not ready to call it a day just yet. Despite his inactivity, Eubank jr looks to be getting better with each fight, and this could be the fight for him to really make a statement. In what promises to be an excellent match, Abraham will have his moments but Eubank’s speed and combinations will eventually take their toll.

*** Prediction – Eubank Jnr wins on points (majority decision) ***

Lee Selby Vs Jonathan Victor Barros – IBF Featherweight Title

Expect Selby to put on a show here and take his frustration out on Barros, who failed to make weight for their last scheduled fight. Selby is looking for big unification fights and knows he has to take care of business here, which I think he will comfortably

*** Prediction – Selby wins on points (unanimous decision) ***

Martin Ward Vs Anthony Cacace – British & Commonwealth Super-Featherweight titles

This promises to be the fight of the night. Both are undefeated, highly skilled technical boxers. While Ward has fought the better opposition up to now, Cacace has shown that he’s more than ready for the step up in level, and carries enough power to get Ward’s attention from the start.

*** Prediction – Ward win on points (split decision) ***

Kid Galahad Vs Jose Cayetano – IBF inter-continental Featherweight title

This could be a long, tough fight for Galahad. Cayetano has previously gone the distance against Leo Santa Cruz and was involved in a tough fight with Scott Quigg before being stopped in round 9. Galahad should have enough to outbox the tough Mexican.

*** Prediction – Galahad wins on points – (unanimous decision) ***

Robbie Davis jnr Vs Michal Syrowatka – Light-Welterweight bout

Davis will look to build on his momentum, and enhance his reputation as a hard-hitting light-welter. Currently with 11 ko’s in 15, expect him to add to that on Saturday

*** Prediction – Davis Jnr wins by KO/TKO ***
