With only days to go to Saturday’s much-anticipated showdown in the national stadium, We look ahead to a big night of boxing –
Darren Cruise Vs Luke Keeler – Irish Middleweight Title
This is possibly the most eagerly anticipated domestic clash of two Irish boxers in many years. In what promises to be a cracking fight, Darren Cruise, who has campaigned up at super-middle, previously told KO Boxing News he has the natural skills to outbox Keeler over the distance. He may even have a slight size advantage over Keeler on the night.
Luke Keeler believes this is a fight he can win, and a fight he needs to win if he wants to progress to challenge for european honours within the next 12 months.
While Luke Keeler will come into this fight as the slight favourite based on his attacking ability and natural punching power, you really can’t pick between them. This really does promise to be a high quality matchup, and don’t be surprised if it ends up being a toe to toe war that goes the distance.
Steve Collins Jnr Vs Paddy McDonagh – Irish Light Heavyweight Title
I think fans are in for another treat here with this fight. Collins comes into this fight with a perfect 10-0 (4 ko’s) record, and has shown some natural punching power. While McDonagh 10-2 (0 Ko’s) can claim to have fought the better opposition up to this point. While McDonagh clearly doesn’t have the punching power of Collins, he has shown that he has what it takes to grind out a decision.
I think McDonagh’s lack of activity will cost him in the fight, his last scheduled bout was in May 2015. While Collins has been very active with 3 fights already in the past year. I wouldn’t be surprised if Collins stops him mid-rounds in this one. But I think it will be entertaining while it lasts.
Chris Blaney Vs Nicky Jenman – Super Middleweight bout
The talented and undefeated Blaney makes a step up against Jenman. Although Jenman isnt world-class, he does have a decent record, with only 1 defeat in his last 11 and he was also the Southern Area middleweight champion. This fight could really be one to watch.
Also on the undercard…
The talented Ray Moylette makes a step up in class for his first 6 rounder. While we will also see the highly touted debut of Victor Rabei. Craig O’Brien & Thomas Finnegan will also be taking to the ring.
