Were looking at some of the top prospects in boxing at the moment. Not just young boxer’s that are 18-21 years old, but prospects who at any age are starting out and who have the potential to really do something in the sport, and who have already shown glimpses of what they can do.

- Division – Cruiserweight

Britain has had an illustrious link to the Cruiserweight division, from Jonny Nelson, David Haye, Nathan Cleverly. And now with Tony Bellew reigning as the WBC champ, all eyes are on the cruiserweight division again.
Jose Lopes could one day be the next fighter to follow in that illustrious roll call. Cutting a towering and imposing figure at 6′ 3″, the stratford cruiserweight has so far shown flashes of brilliance. Don’t be fooled by the 3 ko’s on his record, Lopes can really pack a punch, and has shown that when he smells blood he knows how to finish a fight off. Instincts that can’t always be taught to young boxers.
What’s also impressive are his quick hands, especially at cruiserweight. But he seems to be adept at unleashing quick combos to both head and body. Overall he seems to have a solid skill-set and good array of punches in his weaponry, making him an exciting fighter to watch.
A potential match-up with local rival Wadi Camacho could be one to watch down the line as Lopes aims to climb the domestic ladder. And with a good team around him and the backing of Goodwin Boxing, he seems to have every chance of success.
