- Fight – Lee Haskins Vs Ryan Burnett ( IBF Bantamweight title )
- Venue – Odyssey Arena, Belfast
- Date – Saturday June 10th
This is an interesting matchup between Haskins and Burnett. Haskins is the wily veteran who seems to know every trick in the book, and will be full of confidence coming into his fourth world title fight on the spin . He showed plenty of heart in his last fight against the crude and rugged Stuart Hall to grind out a points decision.
Burnett has been doing everything right so far, and despite some people calling him the next “Carl Frampton” earlier in his career, that talk seems to have died off after Burnett has seen his last 5 bouts go the distance.
Personally I think the step up in class will help bring out the best in Burnett as he looks to be crowned world champion on home soil. The fight probably wont win any awards for “fight of the year” mainly due to Haskin’s awkward style. And Burnett will have to force the pace and make things uncomfortable for Haskins, who is excellent at pinching rounds without throwing many punches.
Prediction – Burnett win’s on Points / split decision
It’ going to be close, and possibly controversial, but with Burnett forcing the pace and being the aggressor, I think he will do just enough to claim the win, and hear those magic words… “and the NEW world champion”
